Last Chance Rescue Yes, you read right -- Last Chance Rescue! We are in the process of starting a rescue for domestic pets and livestock, and working towards getting incorporated and getting a 501c3 status. We will be doing fund raisers of all sorts and taking in donations from people to get the ball rolling ... it's not cheap to file for non-profit status! Our first project is to help the local feral cat population. In conjunction with the Bend Spay & Neuter clinic and with Snip House in Prineville, we will be taking many cats over to be spayed and neutered. Our local Vet clinic will help with euthanasia for cats with debilitating injuries and illnesses. The Bend Spay and Neuter Clinic, and Sarah Dice of the same, have graciously donated a 1987 Nissan Pathfinder as our "Last Chance Rescue Rig" for the transport of these kitties! We surely appreciate it and all the help we can get!
As of the end of October 2007, we have spayed/neutered and/or placed over 50 cats!
Now into 2008, we are working towards getting more cats taken to Bend, but we need your help! Winter was a long one and funds are short, especially with the rise of fuel prices, with no end in sight! We will be requesting an extra $10 per person, per load, to help offset the cost of fuel for the 270-280 miles round trip ride to Bend.
We will also be making periodic trips to Bend to pick up cat food at a discount from the Bend Spay and Nueter Clinic. These are 25 lb. bags of Science Diet cat food; the bags will cost $8 each, which will help cover our fuel costs and expenses. Orders must be placed at least 10 days in advance, 5 bags per order.
